Up-and-coming tenor, David Lomelí, wowed audiences in his Santa Fe Opera debut this summer with his engaging portrayal of Rodolfo in La bohème. Charles Downey of The Washington Post said “The vocal discovery of the season was Mexican tenor David Lomelí…” and called his performance “world class”. James M. Keller of The New Mexican said “He possesses a remarkably sweet tone…”, and Lawrence A. Johnson of The Classical Review called Lomeli’s performance “remarkable” and said “the young Mexican singer showed that he is the real thing – a lyric tenor with a rich, vibrant voice, ample squillo and that idiomatic ping on top.”

David Lomelí, who was a first-prize winner of Plácido Domingo’s world opera competition, Operalia, can next be heard singing the role of the Duke of Mantua in the Canadian Opera Company’s production of Rigoletto this fall in Toronto.
